FRESHMAN SEASON:
Was the top backup at point guard to Raymond Felton, who won Cousy Award as the best point guard in the nation • One of seven players (along with Jackie Manuel, Sean May, David Noel, Melvin Scott, Jawad Williams and Marvin Williams) to play in all 37 games • Averaged 6.3 minutes per game • Was a pass-first point guard who had 47 assists with a season-high of four in four different contests • Had four assists against Southern California, Loyola, UNC Wilmington and Oakland (in the NCAA first round) • Had seven assists and five turnovers in the six NCAA Tournament games • Only attempted 22 shots from the floor and made 10 field goals • Scored 28 points and had 28 rebounds • Scored in 12 consecutive games, but did not score in the last nine contests • Scored a season-high five points against Vermont, the only game in which he scored more than one field goal in a game • Started the opening game of the season in his hometown of Oakland against Santa Clara • Started in place of Felton due to a one-game suspension by the NCAA Felton was serving for playing in an unsanctioned summer league game • Played a season-high 14 minutes in the opener and had three assists and three turnovers •Played 10 or more minutes in eight different games • Connected on his first career three-pointer in the home win over Virginia • Is the first scholarship Tar Heel from California since center Scott Williams, who played at Carolina from 1986-90, and has played 15 years in the NBA. |
