North Carolina's 2008-09 basketball schedule will be released in the next few days, but InsideCarolina.com has learned of most of the matchups and provides an early look ... * "Late Night with Roy Williams" scheduled for Oct. 24. * Season opener Nov. 15 vs. Penn at the Smith Center, with home game against Kentucky three days later. * Participation in the Maui Invitational, with a potential semifinal matchup against Oregon or Alabama and possible title game opponents of Notre Dame and Texas. * Hawaii is the longest road trip, but UNC will also have road games at Santa Barbara, Calif. (vs. UCSB), Detroit, Mich. (ACC/Big 10 Challenge showdown vs. Michigan State), Chicago, Ill. (vs. Valparaiso), and Reno, Nev. (New Year's eve vs. Nevada). * Two ACC games with Duke, Maryland, Miami, NC State and Virginia. * Road-only ACC games with Florida State, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. * Home-only ACC contests with Boston College, Clemson and Georgia Tech.
