| Scott agrees to deferred prosecution

Rising sophomore guard Melvin Scott agreed to deferred prosecution in court today. He was arrested and charged with assault on May 20. Scott, of Baltimore, has until Dec. 9 to meet all the requirements of his agreement. A first offender, Scott must pay a $100 fine, stay in school full-time, get a substance abuse assessment from UNC’s Student Health Services and refrain from contacting the victim in any way.
