The Chesapeake Bowl landed one of their big men to wreak havoc in the middle of the defensive line on Monday night when McKeesport, Pa., native Delvon Simmons decided to accept an invitation to play in the game.
Delvon Simmons
, a 6-foot-5, 265-pound defensive tackle from McKeesport High School talked to Scout.com on Monday night about the Chesapeake Bowl and recruiting as well.
“I’m very excited to be invited and I never thought I would be able to play in an All-Star game like this,” Simmons stated. “I’m also honored that you guys chose me to play in the first game ever held. I’m going to go in there trying to dominate and make a bunch of tackles while being positive and keep everyone’s’ head in the game. I’m going to have fun too. It’ll be a good time.”
“With recruiting right now I’m waiting on a few schools to see what they do and then I’m going to break down my list so I can take my visits,” Simmons explained. “I’m waiting for
Oregon
and
Texas Tech
to offer me and I’ll probably visit them and I’m also looking at
Rutgers
and
North Carolina
who I want to visit as well. I haven’t visited Rutgers yet, so I want to get out there for my official visit which my coach set up in a few weeks. I got a call from the coach at
Iowa
which is another school I’d really like to see too, so I guess you could say I’m just keeping an open mind and my options open at this point.”
The Chesapeake Bowl will be played on December 30th and will put the North against the South. The North team is represented by players picked from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware and the South team is comprised of players from Maryland, Washington, D.C., West Virginia and Virginia. The location of the game has not been decided yet, but should be announced shortly and all participants will go home with their own personalized jersey and a custom bowl ring which can be seen below in a lower resolution. The game will be open to the public.
