UNC-Duke: K Press Conference

GREENSBORO – Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski's team is just one win shy of capturing its record fifth consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference tournament after dismantling North Carolina, 75-63, in the semifinals on Saturday at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Here is some of what Krzyzewski had to say about his team's victory.

Opening remarks

I'm really excited about the way we played this afternoon. I thought our kids, after playing the late game last night, and Virginia played us so well… we seemed to have a lot of energy. Our defense was outstanding. We got one of the best halves we've had al season, and I think that carried over into the second half.

On his backcourt

Daniel (Ewing) was a big key again and with he and Chris (Duhon) – defensively – we made a change. We put Chris on (Rashad) McCants and Daniel on (Raymond) Felton and I thought defensively we shut them down and they did not have a big number games. I thought that was one of the keys to the game.

On being in the title game again

We're excited about playing in the championship game. We're going to play against a really hungry outstanding team.

On the adjustments made after last Sunday's loss to UNC

Defensively… just a couple of subtle things. Offensively, we just executed a little better. We started the game making just one pass and shooting. Once we started making three passes, it was like how we played against Virginia in Charlottesville (Va) about a month ago. That was one of the things we did not do in Chapel Hill. Therefore, we were a quick offensive team and they didn't have to play much defense and we were really rested on offense. Today they had to play defense, and they can, they are a good defensive team, but that hurts the offensive team. There was nothing drastic (on the changes). We should have been doing that anyway.
