Harris to Camp at UNC

Harris to Camp at UNC

Maurice Harris plans to include North Carolina among his camping stops this summer.

"I just want to go back to visit just to look at things more deeply to [help] make my decision," Harris said.

In addition to UNC, Harris is considering camping at Alabama, California, Clemson, and Oregon. Last summer, the 6-foot-2, 194-pound wide receiver from Greensboro (N.C.) Northern Guilford camped at Alabama, California, Clemson, and Oregon.

Harris' camp visits will be his first recruiting trips since he attended UNC's Spring Game in early April. An injury suffered during a basketball game has limited his travels this spring.

"I'm just now getting back into football trying to work out a little bit and get back into things slowly so I can be ready by the summer," Harris said. "I'm trying to get my foot back right. I'll be all set for camp."

Eight schools have offered Harris a scholarship, including Alabama, California, Clemson, Duke, Maryland, UNC, and NC State.

Harris' lack of visits has made it difficult to favor any schools.

"Everything is up for grabs right now," Harris said.

With that said, Harris believes his camping experiences will help him establish a favorite schools list.

"I'm pretty sure I'll narrow it down to three or four by the end of the summer," Harris said.

Heading into the summer, Harris says certain schools have better odds of making his favorite schools list than others.

"I know Cal, they have an advantage because of my cousin [Keenan Allen] going there and I have a good relationship with them," Harris said. "And I know Clemson has a good shot and Carolina has a good shot."

Harris isn't sure when he'll make a verbal commitment.

"I looking for where I fit in best, where I think I'll be comfortable at, because I'll have to live there," Harris said.

Harris says that Allen hasn't been recruiting him to California.

"He's just telling me to make my own decision," Harris said.

UNC's Spring Game was Harris' first visit to Chapel Hill in over a year. As a sophomore, he attended the Tar Heels' Junior Day with Allen.

"When I went the first time, it was under construction so the facilities didn't look all that great," Harris said. "The second time I went, it was a lot better. I got to see the locker room and the new weight room."
