What has been the biggest adjustment for you in college baseball?

"I think the biggest adjustment would probably be baserunning. Everything is a lot more aggressive than you typically would be used to. So I am still trying to get that part of my game to where it should be."

How have you been working on getting a lead and getting a jump on the?

"That is just repetition and in practice. Every day in practice - even when we take BP we are baserunning - even before the game."

Can you discuss your choice of walk up music - "All I Do is Win" by DJ Khaled?

"I don't know - I did not think that that many fans would get into it. I guess it was a good decision - I heard it one night early before it came on the radio and everything and I liked it so I threw it on the CD."

What ballplayer have you modeled your game after?

"Ken Griffey Jr. Growing up he was always the role model. I try to do everything like him. Also Andruw Jones - I used to watch the Braves a lot and those two guys are center fielders and that is always what I wanted to be - and Griffey is left handed, so I tried to model my swing after him. I'm not really like him, but that is always who I looked up to."

Has it been a challenge balancing academics with athletics?

"After the game you can't just go home and relax - you have work to do and stuff to catch up on - it's just different."

Has there been a teammate that’s led the way for you and helped get you comfortable here?

"Definitely Mike Cavasinni - he is just a good role model and a real humble guy. He has been here so long and he knows everything. He took me in this fall, him and Ben Bunting, and we went from there. Our relationship made everything smooth from there."

Do you think that playing travel ball in high school with the Dirtbags helped prepare you for college baseball - especially since a number of your Tar Heel teammates played in the program?

"A lot of these guys I have played with at least two summers - so you kind of know how they play and know how to play with them and what they can and can't do. I think it made it a little easier."

Speaking of the Dirtbags alumni, what it was like to see Jeff May hit safely in his first two at bats of his college career this week?

"Man, I was so excited for him. You feel like everybody deserves a chance, you know. We get up early in the game like that and everybody is hitting. I just wish the best for everybody."

Can you discuss some of the unwritten rules that are part of the game of baseball - for instance not stealing when you are up big?

"You don't want to blow somebody out and stuff like that - it is like that for all sports. Even when I scored on the passed ball (Tuesday), I hesitated because we were up 20 runs, but again we are always aggressive on the base paths so it kicked in and I took off."

How has this team handled losses and shown a resilience to bounce back?

"I feel like all the games that we have played we have been really competitive and we played every game to the last out, but it just did not work out the way we wanted it to. I think that helps playing against good teams and that makes you work harder and it makes you better."
