MARCH 2010

STATE CHAMPION

I think we really made some strides over the last three or four weeks of the season. The most dangerous time to play a team is when they are confident and they know that they are good. That's the type of swagger we started to get at the end of the season.

It was really just about getting back to full strength and getting our whole team back together. We were able to put everything aside -- all of our differences and stuff -- and we just went out and we played basketball as a team and like we knew could.

It felt great to win the state championship. It was always one of my high school goals to get it done. Now, it ended up taking me all four years to do it, but I got it done and feel great about it.

TAKING CHARGE

Two things started to happen with me late in the season.

One thing is that I became a lot more aggressive. I made teams respect me more from a scoring aspect. People had always known that I was going to set things up, but I really looked to make them pay more offensively.

Number two, late in the season I realized just how much I hated losing. Because of that I started doing a lot more on the offensive end. Yes, I scored more than in the past, but it was more about wanting to help my team win games than wanting to score a lot.

ALL STAR GAMES AWAIT

I'm just on a real high right now, just the excitement of it all. It's really nice to get the accolades – being selected to the McDonald All-American Game, the Nike Hoop Summit and the Jordan Brand Classic -- and the chance to go out and show what I can do and why I'm one of the top 25 players in the country.

I'll be finishing up my high school career on a high note before moving on to the University of North Carolina.

THE TAR HEELS

This year and next year at North Carolina are two totally different years. You can't compare one to the other. When I watch them and see them struggle, I think about what I could do or they could do to make things different. Looking ahead into next year it gives us the mindset that we don't want to let that happen again and we don't want to revert back to another year like this.

I'm coming in to compete with my teammates. I want to take it to the next level. It will start this summer because that's where it all begins. I just want to try and be a leader and help build team unity so that we'll all be on the same page.
