CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- To help keep star quarterback Anthony Carrouthers on the field, Nyjee Fleming took on a bigger role in Independence High's offense last season.

"We wanted to have Anthony healthy all year," Independence assistant coach Josh Kranish said. "So instead of Anthony tucking the ball and running all year long, we just gave teams a healthy dose of Nyjee."
