Travis Wear injury update:
"Travis yesterday did one possession out of 10 at practice. I’m anxious to see what it felt like today. He would have to do a lot more than that before I would play him tomorrow… Tyler Zeller did one out of 10 and then one out of every three or four the day before we played Georgia Tech. He'd really have to do a lot more and say that it's not swollen any from yesterday and it's not hurting before I would play him tomorrow. He’s not as far along on the schedule as ‘Z’ was and I still held out ‘Z’ another game.”

On Larry Drew:
“Larry has the gifts, he has the tools. He’s just got to put it together and put it together on a more consistent basis. He has wonderful feet. He’s got long arms; he can defend. He can make a pass; he’s just got to make the right one consistently. He can make a decision; he’s just got to make the right one consistently.”

On Kendall Marshall:
“He’s a quarterback. You don’t expect him to score 24, but he does have a good assist-to-error ratio in high school and he’s got to be able to transfer that to the college level. But he’s a thinking man’s point guard.”

Do you think this team can finish with a winning record?
“I do. It doesn’t matter what I think, though, because I didn’t think we’d be where we are right now. What we have to do is – it would help to get a few more guys healthy, there’s no question. Will [Graves] sprained his ankle yesterday, so I don’t know what I’m going to see when I get out on the court today. But it would help to have a little bit more consistency in our play. It’s gotten so bad that it’s started sticking out like a sore thumb.”

On what he has taken away from this season:
"I still think I’m very confident, but it’s human nature to question things and investigate things. It doesn’t mean that you doubt them and say, ‘Oh my gosh, I can’t coach a lick.’ At least, not in my case… I’ve told you that I’ve gotten mad at my team this year. We’re playing zone out of bounds a lot, which I’ve never done in my entire life. I don’t believe in that, but it fits best for this team. So if that’s something that we can do and that’s something that we can add that I feel comfortable teaching, then that’s a positive. And I’m really frickin’ searching for some positives, okay?

“I do believe that the biggest thing that I've learned is that just because it's been done for 21 years and it's been comfortable for 21 years and it's worked for 21 years, that doesn't mean it's going to work today.”

On Wake Forest’s Ish Smith:
"You have to be concerned about Ish scoring points, but you have to be more concerned about what he gets for other people and how quickly he gets them. The shots that he usually gets for other people are either wide-open 3's or dunks. He makes just enough throughout the course of the game that you have to guard him honestly."

Do you think the injuries are just bad luck or could it be another issue?
"I can't imagine what another issue would be. Everybody always says, `Are they working too hard in the weight room?' or, `Is the trainer using the right kind of tape?', or ‘Is the infrared lamps doing this?” I just think it's athletics. I really do.”

What does this team need to do in the offseason to avoid a repeat of this season?
“Just come back and basically get a lot of work in as far as progressing more towards the collegiate level of ability and being able to compete together. Probably the biggest thing would be getting to know each other better on the court; just getting more team chemistry.”

Has it been hard to stay positively these last few weeks?
“Yes and no. Every day you’ve got to come out and play for the love of the game. But at the same time, you’re not winning, so it is difficult at times. But you’ve just got to find a positive and keep going with it.”
