North Carolina (4-1) vs. Gardner-Webb (3-0)
Chapel Hill, N.C. - Dean E. Smith Center
7:30, Fox Sports South
PREGAME NOTES
Season to Date: Picked to finish fourth in the Big South this season, and with senior point guard Grayson Flittner earning a spot on the Preseason All-Big South Team, the Bulldogs have coasted through their first three games with ease (with a 31-point average margin of victory). Granted, the competition hasn't exactly been stiff yet - Covenant, Montreat and Methodist.
Big Aussie: Senior center Auryn MacMillan has feasted on G-W's first three opponents to the tune of 12.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and a 72.7 field goal percentage. The 6-8, 235-pound Australian native played on the national team this past summer at the 2009 World University Games.
Series History: UNC is 2-0 all-time against Gardner-Webb. While the Tar Heels won a 103-50 rout in Chapel Hill on Nov. 19, 2006, fans of both schools are more likely to remember the matchup one year prior. In the 2005-06 season opener - on Nov. 19, 2005 - the defending national champions (with an all-new roster) needed a David Noel three-pointer with 1.8 seconds left to pull out an 83-80 win at the Smith Center.
