“Well, we feel very fortunate. First half, they were 1-of-10 from the 3-point line and they are a very good shooting team. I knew that wasn’t going to last forever. There at the end they made some big-times threes that were really deep, but yet we made some plays, I thought, that were really good for us. Marcus’ three right in front of our bench was big, Larry’s three across from our bench when Deon [Thompson] had it in the low post and found him weakside and Will Graves’ three... I haven’t talked about our 3-point shooting very much all year long, but 7-of-15 – that helps you play.
"We didn’t execute in a press offense as well as we needed to down the stretch. We turned it over, I think, two times, possibly even three. We missed some free throws but then the last ones, Larry stepped up and made those and made it more than a one-possession game.
"Some of the things that we’ve been worried about – the turnovers – we’ve still got to do a better job with that. But I liked our competitiveness tonight. The first three games we were okay, but last Sunday we weren’t very tough mentally or physically, and I thought we were tonight. It is a very good basketball team that we beat. I think we have a good chance of being a very good basketball team. I just want it to come sooner than it is coming to us.”
On the size advantage:
“It’s not a real advantage because they want the ball outside. They are perimeter players. You look down the line and they have 15 offensive rebounds to our 10, their quickness beat our size on the backboards. It was a unique game in the sense that they are strong on the perimeter and they would like to have more depth and size upfront and we are the opposite. We have depth and size upfront and we would like to have more depth on the perimeter. I did want it to be an advantage size-wise upfront but they went to the zone and they were successful with that but we did make some shots.”

How long before you think this team really gels and fulfills its potential?
“I can’t put a timetable on it. We just hope that every day we get closer and closer to that point. That’s really all we can do.”
How did your teammates hold up during that late Ohio State rally?
“Again, it’s just another opportunity for them to see that you’ve got to play until the last second. We had such a big lead, and letting up just a little bit gives a great team a chance to get back in the game.”

On UNC’s play:
“We could have done better on the spacing and had a little better movement on the offensive end, but I think that we did a pretty good job overall. We just have to get some stops on the defensive end.”
On the victory:
“It was a hard-fought win for us. They did a good job coming back. They fought back in the game. We had to keep running our offense and keep playing our defense.”

On the Buckeyes’ late rally:
“It was just a big frenzy. I think it’s kind of preparing us for tournament play [and] ACC play. You don’t want it to happen, but with the win, you’re kind of glad it happened to prepare us and just to be able to go through it and still have a win.”
Were you trying to drive the lane more tonight?
“I just try to play basketball. I saw the open lane. I wanted to be aggressive and get to the cup. Great screens by my teammates just freed me up and I was able to get to the basket.”
