The way Desmond Brown sees it, the more football he gets to play, the better.

Though the Clemson commit was passed over for national high school all-star games like the Under Armour and Army All-America games, he’s just as happy playing in the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl in Myrtle Beach on Jan. 2.
“Me being able to play this game, after we hopefully win state, it’s playing more football,” Brown said. “I can’t argue with that. Anytime there’s a chance to play more football, it’s a plus.”
An invitation came to the Cherokee County HS safety on Tuesday. He quickly agreed to play and signed.
When Brown spoke to CUTigers Tuesday night, he wasn’t sure of anyone else who was playing, but fellow 2010 Clemson commit Darius Robinson has also agreed to play.
“I’m ready to go. I’m so anxious,” Brown said. “I can’t be that anxious, I’ve still got a season…I’m ready to get there and take somebody’s head off.”
He and his Cherokee County teammates finished regular season play at 10-0. They’ll start their run for the state title with a first-round match up against Haleyville.
“I’ll play cornerback and running back, maybe some safety,” Brown said. “Mostly, I’ll be matched up on their best receivers. Hopefully, we’ll come out with a win.”
The Warriors expect to make a deep run in this year’s playoffs. Brown said they’re not getting too far ahead of themselves.
“We always have to take the playoffs one game at a time. Any game will knock you out, no matter who it is,” he said.
Current players on the Clemson roster that have played in the game include Quandon Christian and Dalton Freeman. They played in the game in 2009 and 2008, respectively.
“I feel like it’s an honor. It gives me a chance to showcase what I do in South Carolina,” Brown said.
