CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --- North Carolina sophomore offensive lineman Mike Dykes will receive a career-ending medical hardship, a UNC official confirmed to Inside Carolina on Thursday morning.

After red-shirting as a freshman for the 2007 season, Dykes suffered a knee injury last fall during practice that limited his availability last season. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native entered the 2009 spring practice season poised to compete for playing time at guard, but the injury prevented it.
