Fedroff Signs with Cleveland

Posted Aug 7, 2008

North Carolina's star sophomore outfielder is headed to the pros. Tim Fedroff signed a contract with the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday afternoon.

Fedroff earned All-American honors in 2008, batting .404 with 78 runs, 12 home runs, 71 RBI and 14 steals.

He posted the third-most hits (115) and fifth-best batting average in school history.

“It’s a great feeling,” Fedroff said. “It still hasn’t hit me. It really is just playing baseball, but now I’m going to make it a career.”

Fedroff received an impressive $725K signing bonus. He will report to Mahoning Valley, the club’s short season A-level farm team in Youngstown, Ohio. Fedroff could be in the lineup as soon as this weekend.
