This year's total is the most ever sold
in school history, surpassing the previous high of 34,800 in 1998, the year
after the Tar Heels finished 11-1 and were ranked No. 4 in the country.
"To sell out this early is a tremendous statement by our fan base," said
Director of Athletics Dick Baddour. "Carolina fans are excited about our
young team and the quality of the seven-game schedule."
Single game tickets remain for Carolina's home football games against
McNeese State (Aug. 30), Connecticut (Oct. 4), Boston College (Oct. 25) and
Georgia Tech (Nov. 8) and will go on sale Saturday, July 19 at 10 a.m.
Single-game tickets will be available exclusively at www.TarHeelBlue.com,
the official website of the North Carolina Athletic Department. All single
game tickets are $50.
In 2008, the Tar Heels welcome back 10 starters on offense, including
playmakers Hakeem Nicks and Brandon Tate at wide receiver, Greg Little at
tailback, Garrett Reynolds at offensive tackle and T.J. Yates at
quarterback. Defensively, Carolina returns eight starters, including
freshman All-Americas Deunta Williams at safety, Marvin Austin at defensive
tackle and Quan Sturdivant at linebacker.
