Today's Carolina links from around the ‘net.......

Carolina Baseball

North Carolina never looked nervous. Not after LSU belted two early home runs Sunday at Rosenblatt Stadium. Not after a late Tigers rally. That's what solid pitching, strong hitting and two previous years at the College World Series did for the Tar Heels (52-12). That's why they advanced to the winners' bracket after an 8-4 victory, and will play Fresno State at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

North Carolina pitcher Alex White might have handled it differently last year if he allowed a home run to lead off a game at the College World Series. History, in fact, shows that he did not recover well from such adverse moments. White, the Tar Heels' ace sophomore on the mound, hobbled through the NCAA postseason a year ago. He lost two starts at Rosenblatt Stadium, allowing 11 runs against Rice and Oregon State in 62/3 innings. No problems this time around.

Whenever Rob Wooten throws a perfect slider, Alex White whizzes a fastball or Adam Warren strikes someone out looking, North Carolina sophomore Chase Jones feels a bit of pride. As bullpen catcher, he isn't on the Tar Heels' active roster for the College World Series, but he has an active role in preparing the pitchers for every outing.

I have realized in the few short days we have had out here in Omaha thus far that college baseball is the ultimate team sport. I know football claims to be, with all of the different plays relying on 11 guys to do their part. However, if you hang around this team for mere hours, you just realize how tight we are and how much it means to be here at the College World Series as a team.

Carolina Basketball

Ty Lawson, North Carolina's point guard, is still undecided about returning to school to play his junior basketball season or staying in the NBA Draft. Lawson said he will make his decision today. The deadline for withdrawing from the draft is today at 5 p.m. "I haven't made a decision yet," Lawson said when reached in Chapel Hill on his cell phone on Saturday. "I'll know on Monday. I'm in school right now." "It's like 50-50 right now," Lawson said. "I'm not leaning towards any way right now."

Three Carolina underclassmen -- rising senior wingman Danny Green and junior guards Wayne Ellington and Ty Lawson -- are expected to make decisions today after meetings with Tar Heels coach Roy Williams.
