North Carolina men’s basketball coach Roy Williams gets the same feeling driving home to Asheville now as he did coming home in his “Blue Goose” Ford Mustang decades ago.
“It’s a great feeling coming over Interstate 40 and seeing the mountains. I get that warm, fuzzy feeling,” Williams said. “When I stop coaching, which is hopefully many years from now, this is where I want to be.

For a player, the promise of a scholarship worth $100,000 or more can seem too good to be true, even if committing does limit your choices. Shooting guard Reggie Bullock of Kinston High was a sophomore when he committed to North Carolina in January.
Another player in Bullock's class, point guard Kendall Marshall of Arlington, Va., committed to North Carolina in September of his sophomore year. Bullock visited the school unofficially before committing and felt comfortable with how he fit into coach Roy Williams' system.
"Each individual coach and each individual system has a place for someone," said Kinston coach Wells Gulledge. "The University of North Carolina, it really just fit, not just Reggie but the way he plays."

NCAA baseball regionals have been played in the same county before -- but never Wake County.
Until now.
North Carolina and N.C. State on Sunday were chosen to be two of the 16 host sites, signaling the growth and depth of college baseball in the Triangle. This will mark the third straight year that Carolina, which has advanced to the College World Series the past two seasons, will host an NCAA baseball regional.
