Quentin Thomas had no trouble answering the question Sunday night. Asked where he thought he and his North Carolina teammates had grown the most in the three weeks since starting point guard Ty Lawson went down with an ankle injury, Thomas nodded with certainty. “As a team,” he said with a satisfied smile. “Those three words are key. As a team. Yeah, we’ve been dealing with adversity. But as a team we’ve bonded and gotten tougher.”

If Alex Stepheson is playing, chances are that Art Stepheson is watching. “Whatever my son is doing, that’s what I watch,” Art said. “I watch all the college games. I record every game. I could watch each game about 10 times. My son will call and say, ‘Whatcha doing Dad?’ I’ll say, ‘I’m watching the game again.’ ‘You’re watching it again?’ ”
