Through recent discussions with Thigpen, Bass scheduled an official visit to UNC this coming weekend.
Bass' senior film caught Thigpen's eye. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound wide receiver caught 42 passes for 759 yards and eight touchdowns. In the process, he helped Warner-Robbins (Ga.) Northside claim their second consecutive GHSA 4A State Championship and broke three Northside career receiving records – receptions, yardage, and touchdowns.
"They're trying to bring in three receivers, from what [Thigpen] told me," Bass said. "And I think they only have one committed so far."
UNC has yet to extend Bass a scholarship offer. However, he's looking forward to learning the status of a possible offer during his official visit this weekend.
"I'm going to meet with them and we're going to get to know each other," Bass said. "And we're going to talk about how they feel and everything about me coming in and playing receiver and then we're going to go from there."
Bass claims scholarship offers from Indiana, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt.
Although Bass has never visited the campus, he has anointed UNC his leader.
"To me, North Carolina is really sticking out; they're on top right now," Bass said. "I just like talking to the coaches and am getting a good vibe from them. I think North Carolina would be a really good fit for me."
Since meeting Dennard at the all-star game, Bass has kept in regular contact with him and the two regularly discuss UNC.
"As a matter of fact, we talked on the phone yesterday," Bass said. "We feel like North Carolina is coming as a football team… We just feel like their program is heading in the right direction."
Bass has only one other official visit scheduled – Georgia Southern on February 2nd.
