* Former Tar Heel Jason Capel will begin his pro career with the Fayetteville Patriots of the NBDL, where he will be coached by his father, Jeff Capel.

Some other Tar Heels expected are UNC coach Matt Doherty and his coaching staff, Tar Heel all-time greats Phil Ford and Walter Davis, along with Michael Jordan, Jerry Stackhouse and Brendan Haywood of the Wizards, according to a team press release.

* Vince Carter's knee rehab has a passing grade thus far from Pistons' coach Rick Carlisle. Stephen A. Smith of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports Carlisle observed Carter and said, "He's shooting the same, he's attacking the same, and he looks great. He's back, at least as far as I'm concerned."
