Strong, Barbour Suspended

Strong, Barbour

According to sources close to the program, Jermaine Strong and Andre Barbour have been suspended indefinitely from the team for violating team and University policy. A UNC official then confirmed the news to Inside Carolina on Monday morning.

"It's disappointing to have to take this action," Butch Davis said Monday. "Both players had a tremendous opportunity to help this football team."

Strong, a sophomore, began the season as a backup cornerback, but took over the starting spot after Kendric Williams suffered a career-ending injury against Virginia Tech. Strong recorded nine tackles and one pass break-up through the first seven games this season.

Barbour, a sophomore offensive lineman, has seen reserve duty this season at left tackle.

According to Orange County court records, Barbour has a trial date on Tuesday, Oct. 23 for misdemeanor marijuana possession. Recommended Stories
