For Kendall Marshall his college decision was a no-brainer. The Arlington (Va.) Bishop O’Connell standout recently picked up a scholarship offer from his “dream” school and the sophomore-to-be decided to end his recruitment.

“I decided to go to North Carolina,” Kendall Marshall said in an exclusive interview Tuesday evening. “Everything just feels perfect. Growing up it was my dream school and going down there for my unofficial everything just fell into place.”

“Coach is great to be around and the players were very accepting,” he continued. “I feel like I can be successful in the program and I’m really excited about going there.”

This past summer, Marshall was the starting point guard for Boo Williams, who is historically one of the best programs on the circuit. The 6-foot-3 lead man ran the squad and showed great poise and leadership.

Despite his great play for Boo Williams, Marshall didn’t expect to get a scholarship offer from North Carolina this early. Once it happened, Marshall felt he had to jump at the opportunity.

“I never imagined that they would offer me this early,” Marshall said. “Going into it I just wanted to keep getting better. I never thought about Carolina offering me a scholarship to play basketball for them and now that it is a reality, it’s a great feeling.”

Although Marshall seemed enamored with North Carolina from the beginning he still took a number of unofficial visits. He made trips to Duke, Georgetown and Villanova. But his most recent trip was to Carolina and that visit sealed the deal.

“[The visit] definitely set the tone for what I wanted to do. After the visit I wanted to go to North Carolina, but I still wanted to see some other schools because my mind could of changed. But the more time passed the more I wanted to commit to North Carolina and get the whole process over with.”

While on the visit, Marshall got the opportunity to hang out with Roy Williams and get to know the Hall of Fame coach. Marshall said he felt at ease around his future head coach.

“I feel very comfortable around coach Williams. Most times when you get around college coaches you get uptight and watch yourself a lot more, but around him I was very comfortable and I just felt that [North Carolina] is where I want to be.”

Marshall, who is ranked No. 6 overall in the class of 2010, picked the Tar Heels over Georgetown, Villanova and Virginia.
