“They talked about how they did in their game, how they played a lot of freshmen, how I can come in and play right away, how they have a need for linemen – just things like that,” said Massie.
The UNC coaches also began to set up a date for Massie’s official visit to Chapel Hill.
“We’re looking at the third or fourth weekend of December,” said Massie. “It’s not set, yet, though.”
Massie has already scheduled two official visits – Clemson on the weekend of December 1st and Georgia on the weekend of the 8th.
Tennessee, who offered last week, and Virginia Tech round out the remainder of Massie’s official visit destinations.
All of Massie’s official visits will be taken after his senior season. Furthermore, he won’t make any unofficial visits during the season.
“Our coach, he won’t let us miss any practice,” said Massie. “And we have Saturday practice.”
Massie’s senior season opened with a 41-7 victory over Ringgold (Va.) Dan River on Friday night. He recorded three pancake blocks on offense, and had four tackles including two sacks on defense.
Focused on his senior season, Massie doesn’t have a favorite among the five schools he plans to officially visit.
“Nobody is leading, I’m just keeping everybody even,” said Massie.
Massie’s official visits will play a major role in the decision-making process.
“[I’m looking for] the place that I feel most comfortable, where I feel I’ll be most successful, [and I’m look at the] coaching staff, the team altogether, the environment, and academics,” said Massie.
In addition to UNC, Massie said he has also received phone calls this week from Clemson, Connecticut, Georgia, Maryland, and Virginia Tech.
