Drew: 'It's The Best Fit For Me'

Drew, who averaged 14.8 points, 6.3 assists and 4.5 rebounds for Taft last season, is ranked by Scout.com as the No. 4 point guard in the Class of 2008 and No. 41 overall. He picked Carolina over offers from Arizona, UCLA, Texas, Washington, Gonzaga, California and Louisville, among others.
"North Carolina clearly addressed their need for a point guard from 2008," said Dave Telep of Scout.com. "When you look at the class as a whole, Larry Drew is one of the top point guards available.
"Carolina is getting a player that is going to assimilate into the situation. He's a guy who will come in and not feel like he'll have to do too much. He can facilitate offense for North Carolina and he's clearly one of the hardest working players in terms of working on his game. I think when you look at the class of 2008, there's no doubt UNC needed a point guard and Drew rates as one of the top guys at his position. It's just a solid fit."
His father, Larry Sr., played 10 seasons in the NBA (1980-91) and since then has been an assistant coach. He's currently on the staff of the Atlanta Hawks.
