Wright Named ACC Rookie of the Year

The ACC announced Tuesday that North Carolina freshman Brandan Wright has been voted the conference's Rookie of the Year.

"I have team goals of winning the ACC Tournament and then looking at the national championship," Wright said, minutes after learning he'd won the award. "But the awards on the side are always kind of nice, especially in a conference like this and on a team like this. ... The league was very deep - even on my own team it was very deep."

The 6-9 power forward has averaged 14.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while leading the conference by shooting 66 percent. It's the third straight year that a Tar Heel has won the award.

Vote Totals
Brandan Wright, North Carolina (49)
Javaris Crittenton, Georgia Tech (27)
Brandon Costner, N.C. State (23)
