UNC-Duke: The 'Combative' Foul Photos

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --- It was an unforgettable incident in the game's top rivalry. Here are photos of the sequence by Inside Carolina courtside photographer Jim Hawkins ...

After Tyler Hansbrough rebounded his missed free throw, Duke's Gerald Henderson arrived late to the play ...

... and his forearm caught Tyler Hansbrough on the bridge of the nose with 14.5 seconds left in the game.

Hansbrough went down hard ...

... but bounced back up ...

... and as he felt the blood running down his face ...

... he had to be restrained by teammates, an official and trainer Marc Davis, who ushered him off the court and into the locker room.

Roy Williams and Mike Krzyzewski chatted during the long delay that followed. Mike Copeland can be seen at the scorer's table in the background, where he was waiting to check-in for Hansbrough prior to the incident.

After much discussion, the officials came to a decision ...

... it was a "flagrant foul for combative and confrontational action" ...

... Henderson was ejected and suspended for the next game ...

... and Marcus Ginyard took the foul shots.

But Hansbrough was back out on the court minutes later for the Senior Day speeches.
