On Maryland's comeback -

We just lost our focus. We had a mental breakdown.

On Maryland players coming off screens -

We just didn't defend it. They got it every time they needed it. We just didn't do what we needed to do to get around the screen or through the screen. It's just not enough toughness.

Is this team in need of toughness?

Absolutely. You have to respond when you come up against a team with that mean streak in them. You can't be too finesse.

On UNC's strategy against Maryland -

We wanted to shut down Maryland's wings. They got most of their points from D.J. Strawberry and Mike Jones. We tried to get rebounds and push the ball, because they were slow getting back, at least at the beginning.

This is very frustrating. We can't crumble whenever the game gets tight. We have to be tough.

On UNC's play down the stretch -

We have to lock down, play tough defense and get stops. It is a toughness thing.
