On his shooting -

When my shots are working for me and my offense is working, it opens up a lot of things inside. I just go out and play, if my shot is not working, I just try to go out and do other things.

On the rivalry with NC State -

It’s intense. Everybody talks about the Carolina-Duke rivalry, but this can’t be overlooked.

On passing back inside after the ball has come back out -

Something the coach has emphasized is when they throw it back out to look back in, but also be ready to make a basketball play.

Is the team sometimes overconfident?

I wouldn’t say it’s because of being overconfident. Sometimes we’ve just had those lapses. We’ve come out flat sometimes and that’s something we’re going to have to get over.

On defense’s keying on his perimeter game -

Teams are starting to pick up on my outside shot so they’re having guys shout at me a lot and be there when I come off screens. Now I have to get to the basket more and make tougher plays. Guys are a lot bigger and stronger at this level, but I’ve just trying to adjust.

On remembering the loss to State -

Any loss sticks, especially that one because of the rivalry and the way the game went on. That one was tough to get over. They play well together, that has helped them with their success this season.

On strategy vs. NC State -

It’s very important to push the tempo and for our guards to get after their guards and pressure them.

On bouncing back against Boston College -

It will make a difference, because it was another learning experience. We’ve got to practice hard and have that same intensity when we come out in other games.

On improving his defense -

It’s my mindset. I told myself I can be a good defensive player. Coach [Roy Williams] has encouraged me a lot. It’s something I knew coming into the season that I was going to have to work on.
