Gray Dismissed From Football Team

Chapel Hill, N.C. --- Charlston Gray, a 6-3, 295-pound offensive lineman from Fort Worth, Texas, has been dismissed from the University of North Carolina football team for repeated violations of team rules, head coach Butch Davis announced Friday.

Gray will be allowed to stay on scholarship throughout the remainder of the spring semester.

"I expect our players to do the right things academically and athletically to be members of this football program," said Davis.

Gray, who would have been a senior this fall, was named First-Team Freshman All-America by The Sporting News in 2004 and has started the majority of games at guard during his three seasons at UNC.
