Marvin Sanders has been released from the Tar Heel coaching staff, sources close to the situation informed Inside Carolina on Monday.

UNC officials were unavailable for comment late Monday, but did confirm to Inside Carolina on Tuesday morning that Sanders would not be retained.

He is the seventh assistant from John Bunting's staff to be let go by new head coach Butch Davis, joining running back/special teams coach Andre Powell, wide receiver coach Dave Brock, defensive end coach Danny Pearman, offensive coordinator/quarterback coach Frank Cignetti, assistant head coach/tight end coach John Gutekunst and offensive line coach Mark Weber.
