North Carolina (11-1) vs. Dayton (10-2)
Chapel Hill, N.C. - Dean E. Smith Center

PREGAME NOTES

Season to Date: After an early slip-up at SMU, Dayton rolled off eight straight wins until Pittsburgh put an end to the streak last Saturday. The Flyers' eight-game stretch included an impressive win over Louisville. Against then-No. 7 Pittsburgh, the Panthers made twice as many field goals as the Flyers and grabbed twice as many rebounds. The result? An 84-54 final score.

Go-To Scorer: The only Flyer averaging double-digit points is junior guard Brian Roberts. Quick and athletic, he excels at creating his own shot. Roberts leads UD in scoring (17.3 ppg), outside shooting (44% 3pt), free-throw shooting (89% FT), assists (3.7 apg), steals (1.3 spg) and minutes played (35.0).

Slow Down: Expect Dayton to be yet another team that tries to slow down the pace against the up-tempo Tar Heels. Opponents are averaging 59.2 points against the Flyers and shooting just 40.5 percent (and it was at 37.9% prior to the Pittsburgh game). In fact, Pittsburgh is the only opponent in December that has scored more than 55 points against the Flyers.

Youthful: There is only one senior on the Dayton roster, starting forward Monty Scott. The Flyers' nine-man rotation includes four juniors, a sophomore and three freshmen.

Series History: Dayton and North Carolina have only met once before -- in the 1967 Final Four. The Flyers won that game, 76-62. From 1950-69, Dayton won more games than any other college basketball program in the nation, according to the UD sports information department.
