Early in the second half, ESPN's sideline reporter Doris Burke asked Davis a few questions ...
Burke: There were a lot of big jobs open in college football, why Carolina?
Davis: I thought this was a great opportunity, it has absolutely everything you're looking for in a football program. Great academic credibility, great fan base, great access to athletes in the state of North Carolina. I think it's just a great opportunity.
Burke: Ohio State has their football and basketball team at No. 1 in the country. Mack Brown had this team at 10-1. What's the ceiling for Carolina football?
Davis: I truly believe that this is a school at which you have an opportunity to win a national championship. It's not going to happen overnight, it's going to take some work and there's a lot of work to do, but with all the things that are here, you can truly build a kind of program that you love. There's no reason Carolina can't be like Ohio State, Michigan, Texas - great basketball and football programs playing for national championships.
Burke: Roy Williams told us you had a conversation recently. What was the discussion about?
Davis: We just talked about the University of North Carolina, his willingness to do absolutely everything to help the football program and myself doing the same for him - he doesn't need my help, they're playing great tonight. Just what it's like, what a special place it is and the great opportunity.
