Ronnie McGill Q&A

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --- The North Carolina senior tailback says he welcomes more carries this week at Notre Dame. Read and listen to what he had to say on Tuesday...

On a bigger role last week -

"That was really what I thought we were going to do at the beginning of the season, but the coaches really like the two back system. I was fine with it going into the week knowing that I was going to have to carry the whole load."

On fatigue -

"I was fine. We just came out and started running play actions because we figured they were going to start biting on it, which they did open the pass offense a lot. But I was fine going into the second half."

Did you want the ball when the team was at the goal line?

"I want the ball every play, but sometimes I just can't get it. With the play call there was a chance of me getting it and a chance of me not getting it. I was hoping that he was going to hand it to me but he didn't. I think everyone wants the ball in that type of situation."

On being a fan of Notre Dame football -

"I watched Rudy. I wasn't a big Notre Dame fan; I did like Lou Holtz. I watched them sometimes just because they were on TV every week because they have their own little channel."

Did you like Rudy?

"I did like it; it was a good movie."

On what he expects this weekend -

"I'm expecting the fans to be loud, expecting for it to be really cold, as it always is, and them just to come out with a chip on their shoulder because they are a really good football team. They've got a lot of good players. No matter who they play they always come out and go to play and play a full game."

On continuing to play well in the wake of coach's firing -

"I believe we can generate it again this week. It's just a lot of things just finally coming together and I guess some people finally seeing that it's down to the last little bit. Coach is not going to be here next year, we've got nothing to lose, and so everybody's just laying it on the line. Nobody's really sure what's going to happen next year, so this is all we've got right now, so you got to make the best of what you've got."

Do you want to carry the ball another 30 times this week?

"I told them if he gave me 35 of them that I`d do more than I did last week. I am prepared for it if that's what they plan on doing. I told them if they gave me the ball 30 times I'd be happy."
