Don't Miss the VFY Golf Tournament!

Posted Sep 7, 2006

Inside Carolina's favorite local charity -- Volunteers for Youth -- is nearing its biggest event of the year. The 2006 John and Dawn Bunting Golf Tournament, and accompanying dinner and silent auction, are only a month away!

About Volunteers for Youth: Each year, Inside Carolina staff members contribute to Volunteers for Youth by way of donations and mentoring assistance. We encourage you to do the same -- support a great, local cause!

Volunteers for Youth is a private, nonprofit, United Way organization that has been making a difference for young people in Orange County, N.C. since 1982. Through mentoring programs, community service projects, and recreational activities, Volunteers for Youth reaches out to local youngsters at risk of school failure, substance abuse, or delinquency.

Dinner and Silent Auction
Town Hall Grill
Sunday, October 8, 2006
6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Last year's inaugural event featured Jesse Holley and Ronnie McGill speaking on the positive impact of mentors in their life. The auction offered wonderful items from the sports world such as Julius Peppers' signed game-used UNC Football jersey, Coach Buntings signed coaches shirts from the NC State and Miami wins, a chance to sit with Woody Durham for a broadcast, and a Phil Ford signed print. This years event promises even greater auction items, including many autographed football jerseys of "Tar Heels in the NFL" and a Notre Dame game package.

Golf Tournament
UNC's Finley Golf Course
Monday, October 9, 2006
Shotgun start 11:00 a.m.

Golfers will attempt to show their best stuff as they shoot for a Hole-in-One to win a new car from Performance Auto, as well as other prizes for longest drives and closest to the hole on selected holes. There will be a raffle for great prizes to be given away during the awards reception, as well as an opportunity to purchase mulligans before play begins.
