Camps are used as a means to evaluate talent, however there’s also the benefit of being able to bring major recruiting targets on campus. And there will be plenty of those on the Hill this weekend.
Blue chip targets such as Thomas Edenfield, John Elliott, Greg Little, Lansford Watson, and Tyrell Worthington will be in Chapel Hill this weekend and will be able to check out the campus and further their relationships with the UNC coaches.
UNC’s June camp yielded a verbal commitment from William Brimfield. The Tar Heel staff is hopeful that this weekend’s camp will also result in an increase in North Carolina’s verbal commit count.
Prospects like Miguel Chavis, Mike Dykes, Lamar Milstead and Quan Sturdivant already claim North Carolina as a leader and are candidates to commit during their stay. Jason Barnes and Cameron Holland, on the other hand, will be deciding between UNC and another school and are using this weekend’s visit to aid in their decision.
To assist with recruiting efforts, UNC verbal commits Ryan Houston, Dwight Jones, Mike Paulus, Jonathan Smith, and Jay Wooten will all be on campus to help persuade uncommitted prospects to join them on the Tar Heels’ commitment list.
Some of the aforementioned attendees will also participate in the camp.
The camp will maintain its evaluation purpose as plenty of prospects are attending with the goal of earning a UNC scholarship offer. Some of those prospects include wide receiver Markish Jones, offensive lineman T.J. Thomas, and defensive end Romale Tucker.
The camp will contain three sessions, starting Friday night, and concluding with the remaining two Saturday morning and afternoon. Attendees will participate in position oriented drills and one-on-one match-ups.
Inside Carolina will have the inside scoop from the camps, so check back starting late Friday night for insider buzz.
