Opening remarks
“We’re looking for a few good men. We are always giving guys chances every single day. I love what we’re doing. Some guys take a step forward and then maybe two steps back, but we’re making progress today. The quarterbacks were better with the snap exchange today. Ronnie [McGill] ran the ball pretty well today on our defense, which was good to see. I don’t like to see that with our defense, but it’s good to see us run the ball up in there. I’m anxious to see the tape. But, once again, there was great competition out there during practice. I felt like one early on blitz period we had helped them to feel the rush some. They threw the ball on time. The emphasis was getting the ball out of the quarterback’s hand, which was what Frank [Cignetti] wanted to do. I was afraid we might get the quarterback killed, but we didn’t. It was good. There was a lot of good stuff out there today.”

On the decision to sit Larry Edwards down for the rest of the spring
“Myself and coach [Tommy] Thigpen have made a decision to have Larry focus on schoolwork the rest of the semester. He won't be practicing. I know what Larry can do. This gives Garrett White and Martel Thatch a chance. We have also moved Kennedy Tinsley over from fullback to WILL linebacker. Larry will focus on school work every day Monday through Friday at our academic center during the time we are at practice and after we are done. He has had a great spring. I should also say, Larry has been a leader on the field and it will allow other guys to become leaders.”

Is there any fear Larry wouldn’t be available this fall?
“Why would I have that fear?”

Could this carry that far? Could this affect this fall?
“No. This is just getting him to focus on what he needs to focus on, and allow me to get some other players some repetitions. I know what Larry can do. Ronnie McGill doesn’t practice a lot either. I know what he can do.”

How has Cooter Arnold looked?
“Good. I’m very excited about what Cooter is doing. I think he could play a lot of plays/snaps for us next years. He’s a nickelback. He’s a very instinctive player for us. I project he could be a starting safety for us down the road.”
