CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- UNC Sports Administration provides interesting facts and figures from Sunday night's game...
Carolina held the Terps to 27.9 percent from the floor, the lowest field goal percentage by an opponent this year (previous low was 29.7 by UNC Asheville).
Maryland shot 27.0 in the first half and 29.0 in the second, the first time this year the Tar Heels have held an opponent under 30 percent in BOTH halves.
Maryland shot 26.5 percent from the floor in the second half in the game at College Park on Feb. 2, making it three consecutive halves the Tar Heels have held the Terps under 30 percent.
Quentin Thomas scored a career-high seven points. His previous high was six against Arizona on Jan. 28.
Tyler Hansbrough scored 21 points, the 11th time this year he has scored 20 or more points in a game and the seventh time he has done that in an ACC game.
Carolina shot 41.1 percent from the floor, the lowest field goal percentage in a game by the Tar Heels since they shot 40.3 percent in a loss to Duke five games ago. It is the lowest field goal percentage in a win in a game this year. The previous low in a win was 43.3 percent at Kentucky.
Reyshawn Terry was held under double figures in scoring for the first time in 13 games. The last time in single digits was nine points in a win at Virginia Tech on Jan. 10.
Marcus Ginyard scored 12 points, the first time he has been in double figures in an ACC game this year and his highest scoring output since he had 14 against UNC Asheville on Dec. 28, 2005.
Ginyard is averaging 9.0 points in the last three wins over Wake Forest, NC State and Maryland and has 39 points in the last six games.
Carolina is 10-4 in ACC play. This is the 31st time in 53 seasons the Tar Heels have won at least 10 ACC regular-season games and the second time in as many years.
This is the 19th win of the season and the 18th time in as many seasons as a head coach that a Roy Williams team has won at least 19 games.
Wes Miller hit a three-pointer for the 21st consecutive game.
Tyler Hansbrough had four three-point chances today and made two of the free throws. That gives him 38 three-point play opportunities on the season (made 27 free throws).
Carolina had 54 rebounds today. The Tar Heels have 106 rebounds in two games against the Terps this year.
