Weber Will Be New OL Coach

Posted Feb 22, 2006

Mark Weber will be UNC's new offensive line coach, according to the Fresno Bee. Weber coached the offensive line the past two seasons at Fresno State, following seven years at UCLA. He replaces Hal Hunter, who took an NFL job earlier this month after four seasons in Chapel Hill.

Weber is the second Fresno State coach to join the Tar Heel staff this offseason, as Frank Cignetti is UNC's new offensive coordinator.

"Frank's a great offensive coordinator and that was a big part of it," Weber told the newspaper. "He needs somebody he knows can get the job done."

In just two seasons at Fresno State, Weber coached Freshman All-Americans Ryan Wendell and Cole Popovich and first-round NFL draft pick Logan Mankins. At UCLA, he coached two first-team All-Americans, two freshmen All-Americans and six players who were selected for All-Pac-10 honors.

Prior to Fresno State and UCLA, Weber also coached at UNLV and Oregon State, as well as a couple smaller schools.
