On rebounding
"I think you can see how important a stat like rebounding is. It's hard to separate defense and defensive rebounding, because if you play good defense, you still have to go get the ball. I don't think we played all that well on the defensive end of the court, and the rebounding was a big part of that."

On Maryland's second half shooting
"There were a lot of easy shots that we didn't make. We didn't run our offense well the whole night. We scored 40 points in the first half, but I felt like we were getting a lot of bounces. When you're not shooting well, playing well on the defensive end can save you. But obviously in the second half we weren't able to hold them to just one shot."

On defending Tyler Hansbrough
"I thought we did a pretty decent job on Hansbrough. He's a good young player and he's going to get better if he works hard. We gave up some 3-pointers when we doubled down on him, but I just thought our defense wasn't good enough."

On Nik Caner-Medle and Mike Jones
"The same way that we tried to stop Tyler Hansbrough, North Carolina tried to stop Nik and Mike. They did a pretty good job. We have to rely on our offense, not just on going 1-on-1 to get shots. We have to rely on what we did in practice. Even though we lost to Temple, when we played them and when we beat Georgia Tech, we relied on what we'd done in practice, and tonight we didn't."

Forward Nik Caner-Medley

On dropping the tough loss
"North Carolina played better than we did. They did what they had to do to win. Winning is the most important thing. A lot of us have to play better for us to win. It was especially disappointing because we wanted to win all of our games at home."

On why Maryland struggled offensively tonight
"It was a physical game and they played well defensively. They played good team defense."

Guard D.J. Strawberry

On intensity
"They wanted this game and they took it right out of our hands. You've got to want it. We have to turn this around. We have to play hungry. Carolina was hungry tonight."

On where to go from here
"Tonight, it just wasn't us. We have to figure it out. We can win games in this league. We have nine games left."
