“It was just a matter of a better situation for both them and the team,” a UNC spokesperson told Inside Carolina on Monday.
Coleman (pictured, right), redshirted last season, was a high school teammate of UNC linebacker Garrett White. He was named All-Dade County honorable mention as a senior in high school.
On the other hand, Roberts saw action as a true freshman in 2004, appearing in seven games before breaking his collarbone against Miami and missing the remainder of the season.
Before his injury, Roberts had proven himself a solid kick returner with seven runbacks for 152 yards (21.7 yards per return). As a receiver, he caught two passes for 27 yards.
