Injury Report - Justice Likely Out For Season

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.-- Three Tar Heels sustained injuries in Carolina's 14-5 loss to the Wisconsin Badgers, but the most costly is the broken right foot suffered by Doug Justice.

Justice, the senior starting linebacker, suffered a broken fifth metatarsal on his right foot and is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

"We were really disappointed to hear about the injury to Doug," Bunting said. "He's a great kid and has become a great team leader on our football team. We are going to miss him a lot, but he will do whatever he can to help whoever takes his place and get him ready to play. That will be Victor Worsley to start, and we will probably mix in Durell Mapp at that position. We will probably start trying to school up Mark Paschal some, but Victor and Durell will start sharing those repetitions at the [middle] linebacker position.

Justice recorded a team-high 11 tackles in the season opener at Georgia Tech and had four tackles and a fumble recovery before the injury Saturday.

"He's been a pleasure to be around and has become a really great leader. This kid is a potential academic All-American, and he has been awarded several community service awards, and he is up for one right now. He sets a high bar for a lot of our players to live up to. It's one thing to talk about things; Doug walks the walk. He is a real leader for our football team."

Bunting said Worsley, a junior who had six tackles against Wisconsin, will be ready and capable of taking over the starting spot.

"He has developed to the point in our program where we feel very good about him getting on the field," the coach said. "He blossomed a great deal last spring; now he's the guy. ... I think that [linebackers coach Tommy] Thigpen will do a great job getting him prepared. I think he has a lot of tools."
