Jason Williams scored 37 as the Blue Devils pounded the Heels, 93-68, before a crowd of 9,314 on "Senior Day" at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Here are some game notes from UNC's 19th loss in 27 regular season games and 12th Atlantic Coast Conference defeat in 16 contests.
*With the loss, the Tar Heels are now 122-89 all-time against the Blue Devils. UNC is 30-35 against Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium and 42-44 overall against the Devils in Durham.
*Williams' point total was just one point shy of equaling his career high of 38, scored earlier this year against Kentucky.
*Befpre Williams' 37-point effort, Tayshaun Prince of Kentucky had scored the most points in a game against the Heels this season with 31 in December.
*UNC turned the ball over 25 times in each of its two losses to the Blue Devils. The two losses have been by a combined 54 points.
*UNC and Duke will face off in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament for the first time ever on Friday.
*Either Duke or UNC has been ranked in the Associated Press poll in each of the last 11 times the schools have met. The last time Carolina and Duke met with neither team being ranked was on Feb. 27, 1960.
*With 28 points, Jason Capel is 26th on UNC's career scoring list with 1,440 points. Capel also has 795 career rebounds, which is 16th on UNC's career list.
*Kris Lang's six points give him 1,378 for his career, which puts him at 28th on the school's all-time scoring list. Lang now has 672 career rebounds.
*Entering the game Carolina had shot 51.4 percent in victories this season and were at 40.2% in losses. UNC also came in averaging 89.2 points per game in wins and 66.2 in defeat.
*Entering Sunday's game, UNC had a 3.9 rebounding margin per game edge in wins and a -5.9 per game deficit in losses.
*Matt Doherty, Bill Guthridge and Bill Foster are the only coaches to win their first games in the series.
*Carolina and Duke have accounted for 27 of the ACC's 48 tournament titles.
*UNC has won 23 regular season ACC titles while Duke has won 16.
*No other school in college basketball has had more Wooden Award winners than UNC and Duke, who have each had three.
