Lawson posted 27 points (10-20 FG), 9 assists and 8 rebounds in the championship game victory over Turkey on Sunday to cap a sensational five-game stretch.
He started the week with 16 points in Wednesday's win over Slovenia. He followed that up with a game-high 15 pts (7-9 FG) in Thursday's rout of the Netherlands. Then, on Friday, he hit a game-winning 15-footer for a 78-76 victory over Turkey, in which he totaled 14 points and 6 assists.
Lawson's high school teammate -- and also a top Carolina recruiting target -- Kevin Durant, saved his best game for Sunday with 18 points, 10 boards and 5 steals in the title game to earn him a spot on the all-tournament team. Durant spent the week on the perimeter at the small forward spot, where he is most at home. He also posted 16 points against Slovenia, 10 in the first game against Turkey and 17 points and 6 rebounds in the semifinals against Lithuania.
