Despite a late dry spell, the Heels pulled out a 71-62 win to move to 21-6 and securely in second place in the ACC at 10-4.
The 20th ranked Heels are edging closer and closer to that top 16 range which will let them host a sub-regional in the NCAA tournament.
Coretta Brown dropped 19 points and snared eight rebounds. And Carolina got ten point apiece from center Candace Sutton and freshman Kenya McBee.
Nikki Teasley struggled from the field, missing all six her field goal attempts but free throws by Teasley and McBee kept the Yellow Jackets at bay in the final 50 seconds.
Tech was lead by Regina Tate with 18 points as they slip to 14-11 and 7-8 in the conference.
Only two more games are on the regular season slate for the Heels, as they travel to UVA on Thursday night and host Duke on Saturday at 4:30pm
