UNC-UVa: Locker Room Report w/Audio

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina players Rashad McCants, Raymond Felton, David Noel and Sean May addressed the media following the game…

RASHAD MCCANTS

LISTEN (2:56)

"Last couple games I've been under the weather, but I'm feeling better and as long as we keep winning, I don't care about anything else … I think tonight we had a tough task of guarding the spread, stall offense and we did a good job making turnovers and scoring out of that. …

"It's exciting to be out there and know that everybody on the floor can score and can play defense. It's just a joy knowing that if you do get beat on defense that your teammates have your back or if you slip up on offense that somebody has the rebound. … I always wanted to be a guy that my teammates could depend on through thick and thin."

RAYMOND FELTON

LISTEN (2:11)

"We try to emphasize [toughness] a lot – if you get hurt, get a little injured, get sick, fight through it and keep playing. Everybody's got that mental toughness. …

"This game shows we're a versatile team. We can play either way – we can run or play a slow paced game. Whatever we need to do to get the job done. …

"[Clemson] is just another game that we're trying to win. Of course you're thinking about the streak, but at the same time it's just another game."

DAVID NOEL

LISTEN (4:52)

"Rashad definitely had a good game tonight. He went back to his old self, stopped pump faking and was taking the shots he makes …

"It's definitely going to be key for us [to be able to play halfcourt]. This final stretch we know a lot of teams are going to try to control the tempo against us and hopefully we can continue to come up with big wins and continue to prepare for the NCAA Tournament. …

"We had been working on our zone all through practice and we really hadn't used it in a game, but … it worked, caught them off guard a little bit and helped us get out and run more. We also had a couple guys in early foul trouble so that's also why we dropped back."

SEAN MAY

LISTEN (5:41)

"In the last three or four games teams have tried to stop us from running and not letting us get into our break. But we need to be able to play halfcourt games and win in the 60s. We're going to still play teams that like to get up and down more, but for us to be able to handle a team like that tonight is pretty good. …

"I'm definitely not [a true center]. I consider myself a basketball player. I'm stuck at the 5 position here, though my natural position is to play the 4. A lot of what I do here is back to the basket, where in high school I was face the basket and back to the basket. That's the situation I've had here, I've dealt with it and I've dealt with it for three years and will deal with it for one more. I'm just a basketball player. …

"We had to have somebody step up and that's what we did tonight – anytime you have guys [injured or sick], that's what you have to do."
