Senior guard leads the Tar Heels in scoring with 17.3 points per game.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.-North Carolina senior Nikki Teasley has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week after leading the Tar Heels (7-1) in wins over Kentucky and then-No. 17 Old Dominion. She now has earned the weekly honor six times in her career, more than any other active player in the ACC.

Teasley scored a season-high 27 points in the win at ODU, including 10 consecutive points in the final 3:30 of play when UNC sealed the victory. She was 9-of-9 from the free throw line and also had six rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block. Against Kentucky, Teasley led all scorers with 21 points, including three three-pointers.

For the week, she shot 62.5 percent from the field and 92.9 percent (13-14) from the free throw line. She currently leads the team in scoring with 17.3 points per game.

The Tar Heels, ranked No. 18 in this week's Associated Press poll and No. 20 in the USA Today/ESPN coaches' poll, host Wake Forest Wednesday in the ACC opener for both teams. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Carmichael Auditorium.
