Mason out for remainder of spring (updated)

Wide receiver Mike Mason fractured his jaw and suffered a concussion Wednesday in practice while attempting to catch a pass.

Mason met with an oral surgeon Thursday afternoon at UNC Hospitals and had his jaw wired shut. Mason will miss the remainder of spring practice, but should be completely healthy for the start of practice in August. Recovery time is approximately 4-6 weeks.

Mason had 22 catches for 313 yards and three touchdowns last season. He also returned a kickoff for a touchdown.
