Chancellor Moeser:
"I joined my ACC colleagues today in supporting an invitation to Boston College to join the conference. I voted for what I believe is in the best
interest of Carolina's comprehensive athletic program. Dick Baddour and I
consulted on Friday with our Board of Trustees chair and faculty leaders,
and I believe they support this direction. We had opposed expansion. But
once we became a conference of 11, the arguments for adding a 12th member
became persuasive. The ACC is now well positioned for the future. Boston
College is an excellent institution, and we will welcome them to the ACC."
Director of Athletics Dick Baddour:
"We continue to be excited about the future of the Atlantic Coast
Conference. Boston College is an outstanding university known both for its
academic integrity and athletic heritage. Chancellor Moeser and I consulted
with faculty and University leaders prior to the vote. We believe now was
the time for the ACC to stand together on this issue. As I said when Miami
and Virginia Tech were voted in, we look forward to working with and
competing against all of our new partners."
