UNC-NCSU: John Bunting

Head coach's quotes following Saturday's game.

“I want to say how thankful I am to have a guy like Jason Brown on my team. His parents were here today and they know they’re part of the Carolina Football family The football team is going to go to the funeral tomorrow. I want to say a prayer for that family.

“People talk about silver linings, but all I know is we just kept playing, kept fighting. I’m extremely disappointed. We’ve got to do a better job of getting these guys ready to play each week. I thought a lot of kids out there played very, very hard.

“We played against an awesome quarterback today and I’m glad I won’t have to see him again. At the beginning of the game, they were working the inside part of our defense, the short passing game. To battle all the way at the end of the half and to have them come out and throw a couple of bootleg throwback passes hurt. They hit us with a big play on the first play of the second half. Sometimes we’re just not involved enough in the play to stay focused.

“I’m pleased with how Darian Durant battled. Our young receivers played well. I’m very disappointed we had that punt blocked. Each week we have one bad play that really sets us back. We’ve got to funnel this frustration and all the energy that goes into that frustration in practice to get ready for Virginia.”
